Challenge Card

Marie at From Combat Boots to Rubber Stamps has started her own card challenge. I thought I would play this past week http://bootstostamps.typepad.com/from_combat_boots_to_rubb/2008/10/cbc01.html, but I'm not thrilled with the result... or my photograph of it. (It's late, so natural light is gone.) However, I need to reach beyond my comfort zone in life, so I'm posting it anyway. :-)
I used the hardware on the ribbon to mimic the ladder, picked the colors and flowers to use in the section at the top, and the drape of the blanket was the inspiration for the ribbon.
Whew. That wasn't so tough. Maybe I could actually do another challenge someday. :-)

Word of the Week: Gourd

Fall is in full swing. Leaves are making their gentle descent. The air has a distinct chill. The colors are beautiful - even more beautiful than spring. I can even hear the melodious opera of leaf blowers as I type this. Fall.

Speaking of which, David continues to impress me with his ever-increasing vocabulary. The other day we were looking at a display of fall-associated items. He, of course, points out the "punkins" and grins. Then he moves his little hand and points again. "Gourd." Gourd? I am not sure if I pointed one out in a book, in the cards I was stamping last week, or if he learned it at daycare, but I am impressed. Gourd.

I cannot help but wonder which vocabulary word will be next...
